The Lloyd Klein Spring Summer 2004 Runway was staged in the tents at Bryant Park for New York Fashion Week. The iconic fashion sense of the beloved actress and superstar Marlene Dietrich was the key inspiration for this collection which was presented as a homage to her style. Her Classicist sensibility had always played muse to Lloyd Klein's fashion direction and the designer was perfectly in his element to create a tribute to the legend. The show started off with a series of cocktail dresses in jersey some with handkerchief hems and asymmetric necklines. The collection progressed into a presentation of extravagantly tailored suits with art-deco gestures like op-art silk lining which proved to be a discrete and chic touch. sculpted petals in white pique de cotton adorned the sleeve cuffs or outer pockets on several looks. A parade of tulle skirts said to have engaged over 50 yard each were paired with jackets cut asymmetrically in varying lengths with cut outs hidden shown only at the back in satin and wool crepe not seen since the "new look' became a fashion movement when Dior first introduced the concept in the 40's. The colorways revolved primarily around two tone plays of Midnight Navy  as well as dark black wool crepe suits each with optic white trim at the waist or the collar or the sleeve. The final segments included an exquisite showing of turquoise, mandarin orange, and citron yellow evening gowns jeweled and high collared. A number of more sober and sophisticated black, beige and navy gowns were and flowy and draped many with provocative high side slits.
